Insights into Joomla 3.2 - Part 2

Hi everyone! This is the second installment of the series of insights into Joomla 3.2. Part 1 of this series is all about Content Revisions. As promised, today, we will be discussing about the changes and improvements to Joomla User eXperience (JUX) as drafted and implemented in Joomla 3.2. All of us here at JoomlaWebsiteHosting.com believe that you’re pretty excited to know what’s new on the recently

released Joomla 3.2. So, below are the changes and improvements that you might see and experience as you install or upgrade to Joomla 3.2.

Joomla User eXperience Overhaul

  • Improve accessibility, usability and semantics in the entire Joomla User Experience
  • Refined log-in screen
  • Refined Article Manager UI (User Interface) – removed the language column if the site uses only one language, uniformed the font size in all columns i.e. Access, Author, Language, Hits, ID, etc.
  • Repositioned the drop down button after each article to be grouped under the status column for improved accessibility particularly by using the tab key from the keyboard
  • Completely redesigned the screen, making menu visibility depends on whether they are needed on current situations/selections. Before they all appear at once. Now, each menu button would only appear whenever they are needed. Thus, removing/hiding irrelevant buttons.
  • Added a button on every module, at the front end, that when clicked would bring admins/super users to module edit screen. They also planned to implement it to the menu links.
  • Repositioned the Joomla Version Update button from a relatively veiled position to a more noticeable location on top of the screen
  • Remove left column of Manager Screens to make full width
  • Add new search tools
  • Reduce the number of tabs in the edit screen and simplify the display
  • Make tabs in module, plugin and menu items consistent
  • Rearrange tabs in such a way that they moved required/essential fields to the first tab

The above changes and improvements are just sort of sneak peeks on what to expect on Joomla 3.5 and 4.x. The dedicated and hardworking JUX Team is in continuous effort to make Joomla a better CMS in every version being released. They certainly live committed to their mission of creating undisputed and seamless Joomla experience to both Joomla Admins and Users. You can expect in the future versions of Joomla that it would be a lot “sexier” in terms of functional and visual design and that it will meet the current and future needs of its users. Again, thank you for giving us a part of your precious time. On the next and last part of this series, we will provide you with the insights about the new Joomla! App Store. See you then!
