With the current trend happening in the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) world, delivering and providing meaningful and engaging content is a must – that’s if you are serious about your website’s search engine rankings. Aren’t you? Well, we believe most likely you are.

As part of the Joomla! Development Team and its Open-Source Community’s efforts to make Joomla the number one CMS (Content Management System), they recently did some revisions that will make Joomla more SEO-friendly and more user-friendly. Below are the recent updates, changes and improvements that you should expect for Joomla 3.2. One note though, these are unofficial release notes but rest assured that information presented here are sourced out from the The Joomla Community Portal™.

Content Revisions

  • Added a feature that will allow you to put version notes to any revisions you made on each Joomla article on a particular site. This aims to provide Joomla website admins an easier way to track changes made to every article on every instances that the article was revised.
  • The Item Version History sub-page of the Article Manager page provides information such as the Dates, Version Notes, Authors, and Character Count of each article revision(s). From there, you can see all the revisions made, when each revision happened and who made each particular revision. It makes managing articles or content a lot easier than ever before.
  • Added functionality of comparing revisions made to the article. You can select revisions (date of) to compare and then after hitting the Compare Versions button you’ll be brought to a pop-up screen that will show the content and attributes of the article revisions you selected. It also provides an additional set of content wherein it actually merged the revisions being compared. At the same time, the items or contents that were added are highlighted in green and those that were deleted or removed are highlighted in red making changes made on every version easier to identify.
  • Changes in HTML coding (as per the content) are also being monitored and considered in comparing versions of a particular article.
  • Version preview and restoration is also possible in cases wherein there is a need to restore an article to a previous version. This feature adds more flexibility and safety net as you edit a particular article for you can restore to a previous version if the recent changes to the article really sucks or simply wasn’t approved.

So how do you find the above changes in Joomla Article Management? Aren’t they great? Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions. On the next part of this series, we will talk about the changes and improvements made to make Joomla user experience even better. Thanks for your time!
